Swim For Life is a long-time supporter of Helping Our Women. Please sign up as a swimmer, kayaker or shore-hand, or support us in-person by cheering from the shore.
Please donate and support Team Betty Villari at Swim For Life this year!
“Whether you are a swimmer, kayaker, shore hand or supporter, we invite you to take part in “Team Betty Villari,” named for a dear, devoted and indefatigable activist who overcame many health challenges, and whom we lost to cancer in 2017. Betty’s many friends and colleagues attest to her compassionate soul and her lengthy list of contributions to community. The Swim for Life helps to fund numerous nonprofits serving the year-round Cape Cod community. Betty co-founded Helping Our Women (HOW), a non-profit that began with a focus on women with cancer in Provincetown. With the help of scores of volunteers and a talented staff, HOW has expanded the type of illnesses supported to include many more serious diagnoses besides cancer, and provides access to social services, health care, and benefits programs in Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet and Eastham. Betty gave her labor and love widely — to the Soup Kitchen in Provincetown, the Town Scholarship Fund, and the United Methodist Church board of trustees. She managed the church’s popular Thrift Shop, and once was a gym trainer of people who lived, as she did, with disabilities. Betty’s humanity and organizational skills made her a valued adviser and confidante to friends, neighbors, and non-profits on Cape Cod and beyond. Her spirit continues to abound in her good works, and in the hearts of all whose lives she touched. Please join the team, and donate in honor of Betty Villari. In addition to HOW, the Swim funds the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod, the soup kitchen, and other essential organizations. At the Swim for Life, look for our banner on the deck of the Boatslip Resort, and celebrate with us! ”
