Apply to become a Peer Wellness Coach

September 29 @ 6:00 am - October 16 @ 11:30 pm
As a Peer Wellness Coach you will learn and practice specific communication techniques to empower women to speak openly, to take an appreciative stance about their life, to identify what matters most about the situation at hand, and to consider next steps.  You will support women to set and reach personal wellness goals or address a specific situation in a series of 45 minute 1:1 coaching conversations by using open-ended questions, and by validating, reflecting, and summarizing what has been said.  In addition to teaching you coaching communication skills, our training will provide insights into proven healthy living strategies and resources to inform your client’s goals and your work together.

There are two main goals of this program. 1. To increase rates of social connection for HOW/PWC clients and volunteers (by decreasing loneliness and social isolation) and 2. To increase daily wellbeing based on the 4 pillars of health including better sleep, healthy eating and nutrition, increased activity levels and decreased stress.

A Peer Wellness Coach is a volunteer role and upon passing a CORI we will ask you to sign a commitment to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours/month for 12 months. Training consists of 10, 2-hour sessions and will meet virtually twice a month on Tuesday from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, from January 12th through May 18th, 2027.Thank you for your interest in our Peer Wellness Coach (PWC) Training. Once your application is reviewed, we will contact you with next steps (possible interview). Please note the training is 20 hours from January to May as well as a 2+ hours a week of review, practice, and reading. Once you graduate, volunteering is mandatory.
