Help Immigrants Access Driver’s License Benefits

HOW wants all of our clients to lead their best lives – regardless of immigration status. We understand the importance of having a driver’s license, whether it’s for safely driving to medical appointments or enrolling in continuing education classes.

Allowing Bay Staters to apply for driver’s licenses, regardless of immigration status, is common sense public policy that improves public safety for all Massachusetts families. This legislation would enable all qualified Massachusetts residents, regardless of immigration status, to apply for a standard license while keeping our Commonwealth in full compliance with REAL ID requirements. Unless our House of Representatives votes with a supermajority on Wednesday, Governor Baker has demonstrated that he plans to veto this bill – preventing undocumented immigrants from safely accessing the benefits of holding a driver’s license.

Read more about this bill in a Boston Globe article from last week.
