Joy McNulty Memorial Fund at HOW

As the owner of the famous Lobster Pot in Provincetown, Joy McNulty has long been recognized as a community leader and problem-solver. Joy served on the Helping Our Women Board from 2009 to 2020. Acting as Treasurer during most of her tenure, she helped to grow the balance sheet from $189,000 in 2009 to just over $1 million in 2019, enabling HOW to purchase its center in Provincetown. Her leadership and financial guidance – along with the other Board members, volunteers, donors, and client members – helped HOW to achieve a level of sustainability that has been the foundation of our growth over the past several years.
Awarded HOW’s Betty Villari Community Service Award in 2020, Joy exemplified the spirit of kindness, generosity, and community support that the award honors in memory of its namesake, Betty Villari. Ann Maguire said of her good friend Joy, “If something happens in town, she’s like a first responder, asking what is it that we can do? And she’s trained her kids the same way.”
The HOW community is grateful to have had Joy as a part of our family and grateful to Joy’s family for supporting the creation of the Joy McNulty Memorial Fund at HOW.
