In anticipation of an increased level of covid cases in the coming days and weeks, HOW is shifting our daily operations to a “High Precaution” phase.
Services will be available 9am-4pm, Monday-Friday, by phone, email, zoom, grab-n-go/pick-up at HOW, home delivery, or outside meetings with masks, as needed. This phase will begin on December 23, 2021 and continue until January 30, 2022 during which time the office will remain closed to public access.
FAQ:
Why are you making these changes?
Our goal is to keep the office staffed and open during this current wave of the COVID-19 virus so that staff is present to address requests “at the door” by talking with clients and community members outside. We want to minimize the likelihood of the entire staff being sick at the same time which would require shut down. As always, HOW’s top priority is to continue providing direct service, as well as working on specific projects and job responsibilities via remote work/telecommuting.
What if I need help?
While our office doors may be closed, we are still here for you. Call our office at 508-487-4357 to speak with a staff member. Ella – our Clients’ Services Manager – can support you over the phone or on Zoom. We can also meet with you outside the office on our patio. Our other services are still operating as normal, so Mary will continue to take transportation requests and Lisa will support volunteers. We recommend taking a look at the most recent COVID-19 Resource Guide from Provincetown.
How can I use the pantry?
You can do a walk-up pantry request or online pantry request. Walk-in food pantry requests will be met by sharing a list of available items for you to review and choose your preference, then a staff member will prepare your grocery bags while you wait outside. You can also shop in advance here on our website so that your order is ready for pick-up when you arrive. Please note due to the small size of our pantry, the availability of specific items can’t be guaranteed.
What if I stop by?
Some of our staff is working remotely, so we encourage you to call ahead first if possible. If you need to use the pantry, we will still have a staff member answering the door during operating hours of 9am – 4 pm, Monday – Friday. If need be, staff can meet with you outside on our patio.
We successfully operated with closed doors in the first year of the pandemic and we can do it again.
Thank you for helping us all stay safe during this time.
